Information about the Poetry Forum

After you have finished your Field Experience you will have the chance to participate in the Poetry Forum mentioned in TASK 6 of the CHALLENGE ASSESSMENT (assignment 3).

Last year a poetry 'mini-conference' was held at the end of the unit so that students would have an authentic audience to present their work to.

Students enjoyed the experience so much that a 'Poetry Forum' is now planned as a regular experience at the end of each semester for this unit.

Ultimately the Poetry Forum is an event held by us, for us.

It's not mandatory to attend the Forum, but it is an excellent way for students to meet each other as poets, teach each other more about poetry, and be inspired to share poetry with others outside the class.

Other folk from outside the class will also be invited - the aim is to provide you with an 'authentic audience' for your poetry work.  This is an essential element in the Project-Based Learning used in this unit.

This wiki will be used to share our class and assignment work related to poetry in the lead up to the Forum.

Challenge Task 6: Assignment 3 Portfolio

To complete Challenge 6 for assignment 3 you must:

Work with a partner to devise a

    • poster
    • podcast
    • poetry reading, or
    • 10-slide ‘pecha kucha’ presentation

...on an aspect of poetry of your choice.

Pieces of work created for the challenge will be presented at the Poetry Forum on June 6th (after Field Experience).  Please note:

  1. Students must attend the Forum in person to present a 'Pecha Kucha' or poetry reading
  2. Posters and podcasts can be submitted for display at the Forum without the student having to attend (though why would anyone want to miss it??)
  3. Your work will also 'count' toward the assignment if you upload it here on the wiki.  e.g. posters created in digital format, podcast files/links.
  4. Students electing to upload their work to the wiki for assessment purposes must do so before June 4th (see page links below).

> For assessment: before the Forum, upload your material here (or hand it in to Kelli directly):

Kelli, can external students work as individuals for this task?
